Time again for my three synchro highlights of this week! What were yours? Would love to read them in the comments and celebrate with you 🤩.

Yesterday, we had our first competition in which we showed our new youth routines with teams from allover the Netherlands with my club De Dolfijn Synchroonzwemmen. We had many unexpected medals, every result felt as a new gift and was greatly celebrated :) Next weeks we'll continue working to hopefully reach our goals at Nationals as well! The results were not possible without the hard work of the girls and all the coaches and volunteers involved, so thanks to them as well!

3. A bronze duet!

This is me in my happy place. Being busy with artistic swimming all day at the Carifta Games last April. Being able to finally put everything I learning during the technical controller course into practice. But more importantly, also being able to help the countries present at the competition with better understanding the new rules. Really feeling like I could contribute and make their life more beautiful with artistic swimming. And ofcourse it also helped that the competition was at a very sunny island and I spent the week with amazing people and time at the beach as well 🙃

The last week, I focussed with our seniors on improving height in the hybrids of our free combination. I have many different methods to improve height (more tips coming later!), but now we're working with specific goal setting. We set very specific height goals for each part of the routine. For example, a first vertical needs to be upper thigh (score 9.5), single legs need to be crotch dry (9.5) and endings of hybrids whole leg out (10). Then we analyse the video in slow motion and check the height in every position/movement (and find some off positions or not completely extended knees as well in the mean time). My experience that this immediately improves height, without working on strength, just on the intention of height.

This month I am following the Instagram Accelerator course from Marilyn Bartman, to become better at giving you valuable content here :) one challenge that she gave us is to post on our feed 30 days in a row, so here’s my second post ;) this challenge really challenges me in being creative, caring less about the opinion of others and not going for perfection, but I’m sure this challenge will make me grow!

Is there a goal that you would like to work on for the next 30 days? Become more flexible in your splits? Get nicer toes? Rock the counts of your routines? Focus more on the height your athletes show? What small thing could you the next 30 days to grow as an athletes or help to grow your athletes more?

My three Synchrofest(ivities) of the week are back. To make myself consciously enjoy all the amazing things synchro brings me and to inspire you to do the same.

1. Had an amazing fun and educational week at the Carifta games on Curaçao! I did my first competition as a technical controller and really enjoyed it. It was lovely to work with others and learn from others and to be able to help the participating countries with better understanding the rules.

2. Finished the Free Combination choreography at De Dolfijn Synchroonzwemmen! Back in Amsterdam we finished our Free Combination. Now let's put practice makes perfect into practice!

3. Last swimmer of our competition group achieved the points required to go to Nationals! So happy that all girls now achieved their first big goal of the season, going to Nationals!

Nog een dubbele naam! Al jaren doet Gabrielle Kundalini yoga bij Monique Haan en twee weken geleden mocht ik ook mee om het te ervaren! Ik was niet alleen heerlijk ontspannen en vrolijk, maar heb tijdens deze sessie ook echt ervaren hoe sterk je bent als iets zwaar wordt. Onder andere dit hopen we de deelnemers ook tijdens de yogasessie met Monique mee te geven!

Graag stelt ze zich ook zelf aan jullie voor:
"Ik ben Monique Haan en geef de yogalessen tijdens het bootcamp. Hier kun je leren om meer te ontspannen en werken aan je soepelheid, concentratie en doorzettingsvermogen. Handige eigenschappen voor training en wedstrijd! Ik kijk ernaar uit jullie te ontmoeten!"
